School Bus / Pupil Transportation Training

3rd Party CDL Examiner Update Training
Missouri is updating its CDL program to the AAMVA 2005 standards, effective October 1, 2008. All 3rd Party Examiners who wish to continue to give CDL examinations after October 1, 2008, must attend and successful complete this mandatory 16-Hour (2-day) Update course. Those not completing the update training will be removed from the approved list of 3rd Party Examiners. In cooperation with the Dept. of Revenue and the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Driver Examination office, the Missouri Safety Center is conducting all 3rd Party Examiner Update training in Warrensburg, MO at the Center's training facility (click here for a pdf-MAP of Warrensburg).

The Missouri Safety Center has only one update course specifically for the BC ( School Bus) Examiners remaining. The course is limited to 12 participants. This is the last BC Update course scheduled. Don’t delay in enrolling and don’t withdrawal your enrollment unless you plan to give up your certification.

COST - The cost of the Examiner Update is $150 per examiner, payable to the Missouri Safety Center, Attn. Bev Richardson, Humphreys 200 - UCM, Warrensburg, MO 64093.

*NOTE:
One $150 tuition will be waived for use of a school bus that is equipped with airbrakes (one bus per company/school per course). The buses will be used for the pre-trip inspection and basic skills only, no road tests. A maximum of three school buses are needed for each course date and must be approved through Mr. Jim Delap prior to attending the Update. New Course - Preparing Your Driver for the CDL Practical Tests
Have you ever wanted to know everything a certified CDL Examiner knows about the CDL practical exams to better prepare your drivers for the CDL tests? This 8-Hour informational course is designed for school bus driver trainers, school bus administrators, supervisors of school bus drivers or others responsible for training and/or preparing school bus drivers to successfully pass the CDL practical exams. Designed to provide the trainer/administrator with the same information and tools used by CDL Examiners which can be used to prepare school bus driver trainees. Topics include the vehicle inspection, basic skills and road tests, conducted in both classroom and hands-on training sessions. Taught by state certified CDL Examiner Trainers. Held in Warrensburg, MO at the Missouri Safety Center. Held the day following the School Bus Driver Trainer Certification course in Warrensburg so plan to stay an extra day and benefit from this course. Enrollment for this course goes directly through the Missouri Safety Center, not the school Bus Contractors Assn.
Tuition is $125

*Certified School Bus Driver Trainer Certification Course
This course is for public school district and bus contractor personnel to be certified school bus driver trainer instructors. To be certified, a score of 80% or more must be achieved. Applicants must possess a valid commercial driver license with passenger endorsement and a school bus permit. Those attending will receive classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel training and hands-on exercises. The courses will be held at 8.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m. each day at Missouri Safety Center in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Participants will receive all curriculum materials, including Instructor Notebook, Bus Driver Training Manual, CDL Manual, School Bus Driver Permit Manual, Pupil Transportation Administration Handbook, Operation Lifesaver video, and a training video.

*Certified School Bus Driver Trainer Re-Certification Workshop
This course will provide information that can be used to update or enhance training programs for school bus operators. Participants will be approved to sign DOR Form 4140 for three years by the Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education. The course schedule will include three hours of classroom training on the Missouri School Bus Driver Trainer Instructional Curriculum Guide and Drug and Alcohol Testing.

*CDL 3rd Party Tester Examination Training Courses

"B-C" 3rd Party Examiner's Course for School Bus Only
For "DOR Approved" 3rd Party examination sites only, this 40 hour course is scheduled for (TBA) in Warrensburg, MO. If you work for a school or school bus company that is a DOR approved 3rd Party examination site and wish to enroll in this BC course you must contact Erika Leonard with the Missouri School Bus Contractors Association at (573) 636-0056. Tuition is $750.

We will not conduct a 3rd Party Examiner's course in 2008. The State of Missouri is updating their CDL program to the AAMVA 2005 (latest) standards. Consequently, we will be conducting 16-Hr 3rd Party Examiner Update training courses starting in July.
