SFST Practitioner Training Course 24-Hours

Objective: Designed to provide officers the opportunity to develop the practical SFST skills needed for successful apprehension and conviction of impaired drivers. Students who successfully complete this course will be able to properly administer and score the standard SFST battery. These courses meet or exceed the 8 hours HGN requirement as per Hill v. State of Missouri. P.O.S.T. certification provided and tuition funded for qualified Missouri law enforcement officers.

Aug. 5-8, 2008 - at the MO Dept. of Conservation, Conservation Employees Credit Union - Jeff City, MO.

SFST Practitioner Basic Recertification 8 Hours

Objective: Designed to provide officers with an opportunity to update their existing SFST knowledge and practical skills. The sole purpose of this course is to bring officers up to the 24-hour SFST training level. Attendees must successfully complete a written and practical examination at the conclusion of the course.

NOTE: Officers who are not current, proficient, have not used the SFST for a period of time or who were trained prior to 2000, may have serious difficulty successfully completing this course and may want to consider attending a current 24-Hour Practitioner's course.

Credit : P.O.S.T. Certified.
Tuition : Funded for qualified MO law enforcement officers by the Highway Safety Division - MoDOT.

Pre-requisite: Prior successful completion of a NHTSA/IACP approved SFST Basic training course consisting of a minimum of 16 hours and solely devoted to Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Training.

Attendance Pre-requisite: Officers who wish to attend the Recertification Course must provide a copy(s) of certificate(s) .
Certificates must indicate successful completion of 16 to 20-hours of NHTSA/IACP approved SFST instruction, and MUST:
1. Designate the number of hours of SFST training received.
2. Indicate the date of the training.
3. Indicate location of the course.
4. Have the signature of a NHTSA/IACP trained Instructor.

Certificates must be brought to the Recertification Course
and will be collected and reviewed by the instructor. Attendance in the Recertification course is contingent on the review of the certificate.

Attendance Policy :
P.O.S.T. attendance policy for this course will be strictly enforced. Attending 100% of the class time is mandatory and you MUST be on-time each day. Arriving late at any time (start-of-class, lunch or breaks) will not be tolerated.

SFST Instructor Recertification

Objective: This Instructor Recertification course will provide SFST Instructors the 2006 updated NHTSA SFST materials via a CD/DVD. This is the only curriculum that is to be used in Missouri. Instructors can become certified to use this material in all courses that they teach. This meeting will satisfy the recertification training requirements currently in force. Any instructor that has not taught for several years or has not used the material in a P.O.S.T certified setting should consider taking an instructor development course before teaching the course.

Credit: P.O.S.T. Certified.
Tuition: Funded for qualified MO law enforcement officers by theHighwaySafety Division - MoDOT.

Pre-requisite: Prior successful completion of a NHTSA/IACP approved SFST Instructor course or NHTSA/IACP DRE Instructor course.

Instructor Recertification course dates and location: (Note Attendance is not mandatory. However, it is strongly suggested if you have issues with the program or want to participate more fully in the program.)

SFST Instructor Course 36-hours

Objective: The SFST Instructor Course is a Train-the-Trainer course designed for officers who wish to become certified SFST Instructors and teach others how to administer and score the SFST Battery. The emphasis of the course is how to teach SFST and NOT how to perform the SFSTs. Students MUST have a thorough and above average knowledge of all aspects of SFSTs and be proficient in administering and scoring the SFSTs prior to attending.. This course meets or exceeds the NHTSA/IACP SFST Instructor Training Standards.

Credit: P.O.S.T. Certified
Tuition: Funded for qualified Missouri law enforcement officers by the Highway Safety Division - MoDOT.

Pre-requisite: Prior successful completion of a NHTSA/IACP approved SFST Basic training course consisting of a minimum of 20 hours and solely devoted to Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Training.

Enrollment Qualifications: Being accepted in this course is based on a review of the attendee's resume, which should contain relevant training and experience information, by the State SFST Coordinator. It will also be based on the date and time the resume was received, the number of instructors currently employed by the law enforcement agency and the law enforcement agency's total involvement in DWI enforcement in the State.

Attendance Policy: P.O.S.T. attendance policy for this course will be strictly enforced. Being on-time and attending 100% of the course is mandatory. Late arrivals, at any time, will not be tolerated. Please make note of the start times for each day to ensure you will be prepared and on time.

36-Hr Instructor course dates, locations & individualized enrollments:

July 28 - Aug. 1, 2008 - Location is the Lee's Summit Police Dept.

SFST H.G.N. UpGrade 4 Hours

Pre-requisite for this program is the successful completion of a certified SFST Basic course. A copy of the SFST certification should accompany the enrollment. Provides officers the opportunity to add 4 hours of Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus training to existing SFST courses.
